Volsted Destillery

Volsted Distillery is a world-class microdistillery located just south of Aalborg, nestled in the serene Lindenborg River Valley. Surrounded by nature, the distillery draws inspiration from its peaceful setting to create exceptional gins crafted with precision and high-quality botanicals.

Water is a key element in every stage of gin production—from extracting essential oils and distilling, to blending the final spirit. At Volsted, they are fortunate to source their water from a private well, drawing pure, mineral-rich water from deep beneath Storbjerg, a chalk hill formed during the last Ice Age. This unique water contributes to the distinct character and clean taste found in every Volsted spirit.

Founder Thorbjørn Ravn Kaagaard brings a background in process engineering and schnapps making, and has personally designed the distillery’s setup—from the custom-built stills to the development of the recipes that define Volsted’s gins.

Each gin is carefully distilled in a 100-liter copper still using both pot still and vapor infusion techniques. Every bottle is hand-filled and labeled—reflecting the distillery’s strong commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
